Synergy

Low, intentionally

A goodstuff deck is built by picking the strongest individual cards available in your colours rather than committing to a tight synergy plan, relying on raw card quality and flexible answers to win instead of a specific combo or theme.

Goodstuff vs Synergy Decks

A synergy deck’s cards are individually weaker but far stronger together. A goodstuff deck’s cards are strong on their own and don’t depend on each other, which makes the deck consistent but rarely explosive.

When Goodstuff Works Best

Formats with a high average power level, Commander and Cube especially, reward goodstuff building because nearly every card available is already a reasonable pick on its own merits.

Strategic tip

In a goodstuff deck, cut for raw power and flexibility first, and only keep a synergy piece if it’s also a strong card on its own. A goodstuff deck stuffed with narrow synergy cards stops being goodstuff.
